Merge Process for two operating owner Database
Hi All,

I have two SPI Database of version 7 ser. pack 6. Both are of Operating Owner. Database 1 has two additional project activites apart from As-Built. While Database 2 has three additional project activities apart from As-built. Two of them are same as Database 1.

Now I want to merge these two databases. I want to know that whether I have to first merge all activites in As-Built of Database 1 and afterwards merge into Database 2 OR I have to merger two databases with their respective activites.

If any body have idea pl. let me know.

Thanks,
Kedar

Re: Merge Process for two operating owner Database

Hi,

If you mean merger modul of two databases with asbuilt.

The merger module not supports Asbuilt.

If  you run it you might have bad result or even not woring.

Re: Merge Process for two operating owner Database

Hi,

First of all the merger tool is complicate and you need engineering input before you merge two database.

Also the process is not perfect and most of the time ou need to import and run some scripts.

I don't recommand to use it when someone don't have alot of experiance.

you have two option:

to merge all the projects to asbuilt and change the two databases to engineering company mode and then merge the two databases

the second option to import one databse to another when you compare the two databases .

It might be long process.

It's hard to recommand something before I see the two databases each case is different.

Re: Merge Process for two operating owner Database
Hi,

I have analysed both the databases. I found there is no much more difference between them. I think your 2nd option may be worked. Is there any trick for this option ? I think that I have to compare all important tables of both the databases. Am I right?

Thanks for support.
