Re: TO INITIALIZE WITH DIFFERENT BACKEND

Hi,

Yes you can do it.

You just need to make sure the database in the same version.

Re: TO INITIALIZE WITH DIFFERENT BACKEND

Hi IIan,

Thnks for reply. But I got problem. I have received watcom database file of Version 07.00.06.02 from my client. They have not specified which Back end they are using. I have tried for MS-SQL 2000 but it gives error while inilizaing, while in Oracle 9i it is through. No error came.

So, Is there any way to find out which backend used for Watcom Backup file?

Regards,

Jay Joshi

Re: TO INITIALIZE WITH DIFFERENT BACKEND

Hi,

When you change the platform in Intools.ini you need to  change the numbers in the c_ver.pbd from c_ver.mss for mss sql and from c_ver.ora for oracle(open it with notepad) .when you connected to the admin you should connect to the same database version if the target is different version you should create a new one with DBSETUP and after that initialize the watcom database.

I'm not sure what kind of error you get but if this not the case please send me the error.

Ilan

Re: TO INITIALIZE WITH DIFFERENT BACKEND

Hi IIan,

Thanks for reply. I know this procedure to switch Oracle 7 SQL and vice versa. But my problem is different.

My client has taken backup from Oracle 9i then send Watcom file to us. I don't know which backend they are using so, I have tried in MS SQL 2000. Error coming while initilizing in SQL. So, I have tried with Oracle 9i then no error.

How I can check which backend they are using with Watcom File?

I think now I clear the questation.

Regards,

Jay Joshi
