Project not deleted after merging

Hi All,

I am new in this forum. So this is my first try. Here it goes. I have done a few project merging. Sometime after merging, a prompt ask if we would like to delete the project with a YES or NO option. Obviously we click OK. In rare occasion, my merging did not end like so. It did not ask for deletion. May I ask your expertise, why is that? I can still access the project but no data inside anymore. What kind of data is stored that disallowed for the prompt? Please advise.

Re: Project not deleted after merging

The reasons why the system didn’t delete the project because you have garbage in the main tables and scope tables.

If you are sure that everything is transfer to Asbuilt and the data there are ok

You can force the system to delete the project when you open the Domain module àDBA menu à Delete Project (the system will delete the data for this project.

If you wish to get deeper to this problem you can find the eng_proj_id for the problematic project in engineering_project table and run on all the main tables query to find the garbage with condition abs(eng_proj_id)  = xxxx; and also on the scope tables.

I don’t recommend to do it your self you need expert person who know the structure

Of the database to do it and only a few people in the world have this knowledge.

Re: Project not deleted after merging

In some cases, I did delete via the admin.

I also run as per your response for all the SCOP tables where to double sure that the garbage is not something related to component, udf_component, panel, udf_panel, cable, udf_cable and all their associated supporting tables. Sometime there are cases where eng_proj_id is -ve values.

What would you suggest? Shall I run the checkdb.exe first before doing the merge. And if the recreate suggest to insert the missing ids, would you recommend me to execute it?

Re: Project not deleted after merging

Hi,

CheckDB is good idea but not always clean and fix everything and need to be careful

To run it without advice with Intergraph support (special with Asbuilt)

The negative eng_proj_id is Dummy item in the project and the system will not

Delete it from the project till this dummy have reference in another table (child item).

For the dummy item the right flag need to be in the scope relation table.

I understand you work in version lower then version 7.

Regards

Re: Project not deleted after merging

Hi Ilan,

Its been a while...we have been using SPI 7 now and "merging" seems to have problem with their entities being stuck in project. The thing we don't know what got stuck i.e not merged back to As-Built.

Do you know what table should I be looking in case there are missing id from the scope table? if the entitities are related to wirings and loops.
